1. Finding the right keywords & SEO hacks never looked so good!
When thinking about using the right keywords - think of your customers first. What words or terms are they using to search for the services or products they need for their personal or professional experience?
The quick and easy way - go to Google's Search Engine and start typing a question related to the product or service you provide. Before completing your sentence or question in the search field, peep out the auto-completions that Google generates. The results that appear in the auto-generated area, appear due to the sheer number of related search terms used by other consumers. You can place a safe bet - that these are searchable and useful keywords to add to your site.
A somewhat FREE tool to locate useable keywords is a Google Ads tool called, Google Keyword Planner. This tool enables you to search keyword tools and discover the monthly searches associated with those keywords. From there you can select and sort the keywords you'd like to use for your on-page and back-end SEO, as well as Google Ad Campaigns.
2. Niche Up!
You are competing against other companies in your area, region, or general world wide web traffic, so don't complicate things by confusing your audience and the bots that crawl your space with all of the things that you do over overcomplicated messaging. Get specific! Niche up.
Niching up your focus will also help to minimize your ad spend when you're preparing to build an ad on Google or on social media.
3. Don't Overcompensate. Get to the point!
(I know... my mama told me that pointing was rude, too!)
As Google’s guidelines states, “Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines.” Now, this may confuse folks but stay with me here. This is a cautionary statement. Don't randomly toss in keywords to your site for the sake of 'sweet talking' the search engines. You'll probably confuse potential buyers and LOSE money this way. Focus on creating clear and concise content that marries your niche; attracts customers and conveys clear thought. This will effectually create optimized content that draws the right audience while equally creating on-page SEO that generates better results.
Make 'getting to the point' your priority and avoid adding fluff words.
4. Make sure Your Website is User-friendly.
I mean... have you read or looked at something on your phone today?!
I'm pretty sure that your customers have, too.
Having an easy-to-navigate website should be your top priority. There is an overwhelmingly high percentage of small business sites that are confusing. This results in missed opportunities - plain and simple. Here's an example, if Jane Doe enters your site and the messaging isn't clear, the call-to-action is not visible; button links are broken and the page is loading slowly - she will absolutely bounce off and go somewhere else.
Site speed is an important part of your SEO function. A somewhat free tool by Google called Pagespeed.web.dev can be used to diagnose performance issues. There are also other analytical tools such as SEMrush, Uptrends, Pingdom, and WebPageTest that can also be used to manage and track site performance.
Make sure to use headings and/or bullet points that are clear and concise to improve readability. Your headings and or bulleted points are also great resources for search engine optimization. It stands out to the bots and to your readers.
Lastly, make sure to optimize your mobile view. According to Leftronic, there are over 5 billion people in the world that own mobile devices which are estimated around 65%+ of the world's population. There's a strong likelihood your customers are viewing your site from their phones! So make sure that you're checking your mobile view.
